Ah, it's so wonderful to be in love. People often say that words cannot express the feeling of love because it is just something you must experience, sort of like eating bananas foster. Sometimes the best way for us to express our feelings is through art and artistic mediums, like music. There are so many ooey-gooey love songs out there that are drenching with power chords, poetic lyrics, and in the case of the 80's-- just the right amount of mullet to top it all off. I think of a good love song like I do a pretty cake (or if you just want to read the last few lines, I compare a lot of things to food); I think that a song by itself will appear pretty because you have the music and the lyrics all of which makes for a very nice song, but then you consider the lyrical genius and that's what makes it delicious and wonderful. Indie rock can sometimes be known for having great lyrics, other times not so much. Even though I spent a good portion of time working in and out of flower shops, I am still on the fence as far as whether or not I think Valentine's Day is a fab holiday or not. I think that if Valentine's Day is dedicated to celebrate above all things love, then it's a great holiday. I personally don't think that it should be the one day of the year where you express love for people, I think that it should be a year-round thing. Even though I enjoy getting a sweet little gift on Valentine's Day and giving a present to everyone I love (boyfriend, mom, sister, friends) I like to make it a point to show my appreciation and love for these special individuals on a year-round basis. But! The truth of the matter is that Valentine's Day is a holiday that is celebrated by most people and for a portion of these individuals it is one of those things where it's mandatory to get their significant other a present (especially in the way of flowers as most flower shops make enough profit on Valentine's Day to comfort their profits for the year). → read more…

Ah! I can't believe that January is here and we're officially in the year 2009! Well, I guess I can believe it based on the fact that 2008 seemed to last forever and I don't know about you guys, but I personally felt like 2008 was a terrible year. I'm more than ready to party it up in 2009 and to hopefully make some healthy changes in my life, which is something that almost everyone tries to do in their list of resolutions. As with every other month that I've celebrated so far with my blog, I have pinpointed some things that I am currently digging at the end of December and into the month of January. A lot of my current kicks were discovered as a result of gifts I received at Christmas and I'd like to extend a big, warm thank you to my friends and family that gave me such wonderful gifts and that took some time out of their busy schedules to spend some time with me.
