Design Like a Pro: The Look Book
Published 11 months ago → 10 comments
Let's say you want to redecorate your living room, revamp a bathroom, or just do an overall update to your house...but you have no idea what to do or where to start. Some people may just do a simple update like repaint the walls while others may go and hire a professional to take care of the job. Many people take their design abilities for granted and don't realize how good they really are; you may not be an interior designer by profession (neither am I), but you know what you do and don't like and that is step number one. Using your taste as the first initial step to designing a room is the best way because you can start to gather ideas that you like, "inspiration", and come up with a general idea of what you'd like to do with your designated space. When you have come up with enough inspiration you can compile all of it together in a "Look Book" which will serve as a great tool while you design! → read more…

My Favorite Soundtracks: The Great Top 8 List
Published 11 months ago → 9 comments
I will be perfectly honest with you; when I watch a movie... I rarely go into it expecting to pay close attention to the soundtrack. My feelings are that if you pay more attention to the music and not the content of the movie then it's more like a music video than a full-length movie. I think that the perfect soundtrack to a movie should supplement the material without drowning it out or being too distracting. I also think that if this is done right... you are able to remember the movie and the music, but more importantly: remember the movie with the music. There are many movies that have memorable moments because of the music that was playing and of course there are movies that aren't so great, but the music was excellent (i.e.: The Big Chill). Nowadays, soundtracks play a key role to providing movies with that certain something that leaves an impression on the viewer so that when they hear that music... they will instantly think of the scene in the movie. → read more…

My Current Kicks for July!
Published 12 months ago → 3 comments
I am definitely the type of person that gets on "kicks", meaning that I find/rediscover something that I really like and then I continue to like it at an amplified rate. My kicks don't really die out so much as they just go back to being a like and no longer an obsession of the moment. There really isn't a particular rhyme or reason to my kicks; they come and go, some last longer than others, some are reoccurring, etc. I seem to regularly get on different kicks through the changing months and they typically coincide with my mood, the season, or whatever it is that is currently occupying my time or fascinating me at the moment. I have decided to showcase my kicks in my favorite "list" format in hopes that you may develop a kick, or perhaps share your own! Thinking about it... maybe my "lists" are a form of a kick...hm. → read more…

A Splendid Saturday!

This is the first blog in a new series that I will be doing in an attempt to showcase some of the interesting aspects around the city. My hope is that this will provide as a guide to those that live in the city, plan to visit, or even if you're just bored and want to read about what I'm exploring lately! It also serves as an excuse for me to get out of the house and engage in some interesting activities whenever I can. :-) Hoorah for multi-purpose projects! → read more…
